Works in stock (newest at bottom) Mary Godwin, LG (1887-1960) was a well known painter of landscapes, figure subjects and interiors, mainly in oils. She was born at Stoke Bishop, Bristol. Godwin studied art at King's College under Byam Shaw 1908-11, under Walter Sickert 1911-14 and Harold Gilman 1915, also at Westminster Polytechnic. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, with the New English Art Club from 1913, and with The London Group for many years having been elected a member in 1914. A solo show was held at The Leger Gallery in London W1. Her work often featured views of London, where she lived, and coastal and country views in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
