Works in stock Hercules Enslin Du Plessis, LG (1894-1978) was a well known painter in oil, pastel and watercolour of landscapes, town scenes, interiors and still lifes. He was born at Standerton, Transvaal in South Africa and had no formal art training. During World War I he served in the Middle East and was London correspondent for South African newspapers. He found that he had a natural aptitude for painting and drawing and began exhibiting with the London Group in 1925, being elected a member in 1929. He also showed at the Goupil Gallery, the Leicester Galleries, and had several shows at Agnew's. He lived in London for many years and his work is represented in a number of public collections in Britain and South Africa.
